Pratt will be fit for round one

NORTH MELBOURNE defender Daniel Pratt will be fit for the start of the home-and-away season after it was discovered that the rib injury he suffered during the Roos' 53-point loss to Carlton in the first round of the NAB Cup on Friday night was less serious than first thought.
Pratt backed into the path of Carlton spearhead Brendan Fevola in a marking contest and copped a knee to the ribs and was immediately taken from the field in agony.
The Kangaroos initially feared that Pratt, who was released from hospital late on Friday night, had suffered broken ribs and internal bleeding but football operations manager Donald McDonald said on Saturday morning that the 25-year-old just had bruised ribs.
"He copped the full brunt of a rampaging Fev (Brendan Fevola), courageously getting back in the hole," McDonald said.
"Our doctor is an experienced campaigner. Daniel was in a lot of pain when he came off the field, but we sent him off to hospital just as a precaution to make sure there was no bleeding on the lungs."
"He might miss a week or two, but no more, he'll be right for round one, and that's great news for North supporters."
