November 21st 2006 06:17
The AFL Commission today approved an application for Essendon to place Adam Ramanauskas on the AFL rookie list for the 2007 season.
Essendon had applied to the AFL for special consideration to place Ramanauskas on the rookie list because of his ongoing fight against cancer.
AFL General Manager, Football Operations, Adrian Anderson, said the AFL said the move had received unanimous support from all 16 clubs given the special circumstances.
Anderson said the AFL Commission Resolution stated:
“The AFL Commission resolves that, in light of the special circumstances of Adam Ramanauskas (“Player”) and notwithstanding the provisions of the AFL Player Rules,
Essendon Football Club shall be permitted to include the Player on its Rookie List for the 2007 Football Year provided it nominates the Player on or before 5.00pm Monday 11 December 2006 and the Player consents to being nominated on the Rookie List; and
Essendon Football Club shall not be entitled to include any player on its Rookie List pursuant to Player Rule 21.2.5(c).”
