BRISBANE LIONS midfielder Daniel Rich has been named the NAB AFL Rising Star nominee for round one.
The impressive 18-year-old was insumental in the Lions' nine-point win over West Coast at the Gabba on Saturday night with 21 possessions.
Brisbane coach Michael Voss said Rich, who was selected with pick seven in the 2008 national draft, had exceeded expectations in his first game for the club.
"His work ethic was probably what impressed me most," Voss said.
"We certainly think he can add something to our midfield in the future."
