MELBOURNE forward Russell Robertson will make his return to competitive football in the VFL this weekend.
Robertson, who hasn't played since injuring his Achilles tendon against St Kilda in round 10 last year, will line up for the Casey Scorpions in a VFL practice match against Coburg on Sunday.
Demons coach Dean Bailey said Robertson was extremely excited about playing.
"Robbo's bouncing around this week," Bailey said
"He's worked his arse off, his work-ethic has been great."
Bailey also said Robertson would need to play at least two matches in the VFL before being considered for senior selection.
