Saints to meet with Lovett
March 5th 2010 11:16

ST KILDA will meet with fallen AFL star Andrew Lovett next Friday as part of a mediation process to resolve Lovett's wrongful dismissal complaint.
The former Essendon speedster was sacked by the Saints a day after he was formally charged with rape but the club claimed the decision to terminate his three-year million-dollar contract was related to a series of indiscretions and not the charge laid against him.
The 28-year-old last week won the right to have his case heard by the AFL grievances tribunal.
St Kilda was due to meet with Lovett and his representatives on Thursday but failed to show.
The Saints said because the tribunal hadn't provided them with detailed written reasons for Lovett still being recognised as a league listed player they didn't feel obliged to attend the meeting.
Despite confirming their commitment to the grievance tribunal process, the club has reserved its rights to continue to object to the jurisdiction of the grievance tribunal in this matter.
