Shaw 'stupid', says Demetriou

HEATH Shaw has been labelled 'stupid' by AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou after the Collingwood defender was charged with drink driving on Sunday night.
The 22-year-old was charged after making contact with a stationary vehicle in the Melbourne suburb of Kew.
Collingwood has scheduled a press conference for 2pm on Monday.
Speaking at the MCG on Monday morning, Demetriou said Shaw should know better than to drink and drive.
"Anybody in society, it doesn't matter if it is Heath Shaw, anybody who continues to drink and drive is stupid," Demetriou said.
"There's millions and millions of dollars being spent on public awareness to educate people about drink driving," he added.
"And there are still people on weekends and weeknights who are still getting caught drink driving."
"What's disappointing about all that is that it not only puts themselves at risk, it puts others at risk."
"The message should be there loud and clear for anybody, any individual ... don't drink and drive, it's just not on."
"It's disappointing for the Collingwood Football Club, it's disappointing for Heath Shaw given he is a senior player at the club."
Demetriou also said the AFL would not step in and punish Shaw.
