Simpson cleared, Schammer offered a week

FORMER North Melbourne skipper Adam Simpson has had his rough conduct charge thrown out by the AFL match review panel.
Simpson was booked for a clash with Port tagger Kane Cornes during the Roos' five-point win at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
The incident left Cornes with a shoulder injury that could sideline him for three weeks.
But the panel found that Simpson made only minimal high contact to Cornes and that most of the contact was made to Cornes' right shoulder.
Meanwhile, Fremantle midfielder Byron Schammer is facing a one-week stint on the sidelines after being charged with striking Carlton's Marc Murphy during Saturday night's clash at Gold Coast Stadium.
Schammer's strike was ruled as intentional, low impact and to the body, meaning he was hit with 125 points which rose to 195.31 points because of past record.
Even if Schammer accepts the charge he is still facing 146.48 points and a one-match ban meaning he would miss Friday night's clash against Hawthorn at Subiaco Oval.
However, he will not be risking a heavier suspension if he decides to challenge his case at the AFL tribunal on Tuesday night.
Murphy was also looked at for another clash with Schammer but was cleared after the panel deemed that contact was below that required to constitute a report.
The panel also assessed an incident involving Port's Matt Thomas and Simpson but no action was taken as Thomas made contact to Simpson's upper back during a marking contest.
North's Linday Thomas can accept a reprimand and 60 points to his future record with an early plea but he is risking an increase in carry-over points to 80 if he elects to fight the charge and loses at the tribunal.
In other tribunal news, Essendon's Nathan Lovett-Murray was cleared over a clash with Hawthorn's Garry Moss and Geelong ruckman Shane Mumford can accept a $1950 fine after being charged with making negligent contact to a field umpire.
