CARLTON midfielder Nick Stevens will miss the opening two rounds of the home-and-away season after being suspended by the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.
Stevens, who was set to miss the round one clash against Richmond because of a suspension rolled over from last season, will now also miss the following match against the Brisbane Lions after being found guilty of striking Fremantle youngster Nic Suban during a NAB Challenge match at Bunbury on Saturday.
The 29-year-old unsuccessfully argued that his action was a push rather than a strike but the tribunal agreed to downgrade the offence from intentional to reckless which reduced the penalty for striking Suban from two matches to one.
