Swans happy with draw

Sydney is generally happy with the outcome of the draw for 2007, according to Swans chief executive Myles Baron-Hay.
“Generally happy - it's obviously a tough assignment to satisfy all constituents, their special interests and requests however the AFL appear to have achieved a good outcome,” Mr Baron-Hay said.
“For our club, given our large and growing supporter base in Melbourne it was really important that we maintain a minimum of six games in Victoria – we have five in Melbourne and one at Geelong."
Hay said the two away games at Manuka Oval together with a pre-season game there presented the club with a real opportunity to grow its supporter base in Canberra.
"Whilst we have always enjoyed strong support in Canberra, playing more games there coupled with the fact that our Reserves play in the Canberra competition, is a real positive and an opportunity we are looking to realise," he said.
"In terms of home games, we have a mix of six Saturday night and five Sunday afternoon games which we think is a good balance for both families and corporates."
Eight games will be at the SCG with the balance of three to be played at Telstra Stadium.
To launch the season the AFL has scheduled a replay of this year's grand final against West Coast.
Hay said the round one clash at Telstra Stadium presented a big challenge given the Sydney sporting market at that time of the year is extremely congested.
