Taylor to fight charge

HAWTHORN ruckman Simon Taylor will face the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night after electing to fight a charge of engaging in rough conduct with Carlton's Setanta O'hAilpin during the Hawks' thrilling four-point win at the MCG.
The match review panel ruled the clash as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact, which equates to 225 points and a two-match ban.
But because he has a total of two matches suspended within the past three years the penalty rose to 313.75 points and a three-match ban.
Taylor was suspended for two games for kneeing Geelong midfielder Joel Selwood in the face in round one.
Meanwhile, Collingwood spearhead John Anthony will miss Monday night's clash with ladder leaders St Kilda after accepting a one-match ban for headbutting North Melbourne defender Scott Thompson during the third quarter of Friday night's clash at Etihad Stadium.
North's Scott McMahon is free to play against Port Adelaide on Saturday night after accepting a reprimand and 60 points towards his future record for striking Anthony during the first quarter of the match, while Hawthorn star Lance Franklin has accepted a $1950 fine for making contact with an umpire.
