Tigers smash Eagles

RICHMOND has kept its finals hopes alive with a 77-point demolition of West Coast at Subiaco Oval on Sunday.
The Tigers dominated after an even opening term, slamming on 23 goals to eight to cruise to a convincing 24.8 (152) to 11.9 (75) win.
Richmond is now just a game and a half out of the eight with seven rounds remaining.
For the Eagles, the result means they hang onto 15th place on the ladder with a better percentage than bottom-placed Melbourne, albeit by only .47 of a per cent
The loss was made worse for West Coast with star midfielder Daniel Kerr expected to come under scrutiny from the match review panel for a third-quarter hit on Matt White.
Jordan McMahon generated plenty of run through the middle with a game-high 33 possessions while Shane Tuck was a busy contributor with 30 disposals.
Underlining Richmond's dominance was the fact that 11 players had 20 or more possessions.
Jack Riewoldt benefited from the Tigers dominance in the midfield with a career-best five goals while Nathan Brown chimed in with four majors.
For West Coast, ruckman Dean Cox tried hard all day, finishing the match with 23 disposals, 11 marks and a staggering 43 hit-outs while Ben McKinley and David Wirrpanda booted three goals each.
The Eagles opened the scoring after just 60 seconds when Mark LeCras kicked a classy goal after roving a boundary throw-in.
In a scrappy opening term neither side managed to kick a goal for the next 15 minutes before Brown snapped truly.
Back-to-back goals from McKinley and Quentin Lynch gave the Eagles a handy 11-point lead heading into the first change.
Richmond smashed West Coast in the middle in the second term, winning the clearances 16-3 and the disposal count 106-53. Their willingness to run hard and move the football quickly through the middle paid handsome dividends as they slammed on 11 goals to one, including seven unanswered in a 17-minute burst to take a commanding 48-point lead into the main break.
The Eagles failed to lift their intensity after half-time as the Tigers booted six goals to three to take a match-winning 63-point lead into the final change.
West Coast's inability to apply any pressure was summed up midway through the third term when Richmond midfielder Nathan Foley ran 40 metres through the middle to score without getting touched.
With percentage set to play a major part in determining the make-up of the final eight, Richmond didn't take their foot off the pedal in the last term, slamming on six goals to four to end a seven-match losing streak against the Eagles.
