PORT ADELAIDE skipper Warren Tredrea will require a full shoulder reconstruction and will miss the remainder of the season.
Tredrea injured his shoulder when he was tackled in the last quarter of Port's 28-point loss to Fremantle at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.
Port coach Mark Williams said Tredrea would be offered a contract for next year.
"We talked to Warren about his future and he’s certainly going to be offered a contract for next year,” Williams said.
“This year, I’ve really noticed his passion for tackling and chasing and things that we haven’t really seen for his whole career, so that’s been great.
“His attitude is one of disappointment for the club and where we are, but he’s pretty confident [he can come back]. He’s a determined guy and if he can overcome the knee injuries he’s had, this is pretty run of the mill for him.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Steven Salopek is also likely to miss the remaining five games after suffering a recurrence of his achilles tendon strain on Sunday.
