We're not chasing Brown: Swann
July 11th 2008 00:35
CARLTON has denied reports it is chasing out-of-contract Brisbane Lions star Jonathan Brown.
A media report from Melbourne said that negotiations between Carlton and Brendon Fevola's management had come to a stalemate, and that the Blues would instead turn their attention to Brown.
But Carlton chief executive Greg Swann said the Blues had no intentions of chasing the three-time premiership forward.
"Forget whether Brendan stays or goes, we're not chasing Jonathan Brown and that's that," Swann said.
"We haven't spoken to his manager, to the Lions or anyone else, nor do we intend to."
Fevola's new management and the Blues have been in discussions for the past month about a new deal and negotiations will continue within the week with Swann confident a new contract will be signed by Fevola.
"The deal will get done," Swann said confidently.
