With the past six premierships won by interstate sides the natives in Melbourne are getting restless.

After featuring in their first finals series since 2000, the Bulldogs and perhaps Melbourne are the only legitimate challengers to the current interstate dominance.

The Dogs midfield brigade of Cooney, Ray, Griffen and co. has the leg speed to match it with the likes of premiers West Coast and Fremantle, with their only definciency perhaps being the dearth of quality key forwards.

The return of Luke Darcy and the recruitment of former Eagle Andrew McDougall should go some way towards alleviating that problem.

So are the Bulldogs the only Melbourne-based club that can mount a genuine challenge for the flag in '07?
