Williams dismisses succession plan talk

PORT ADELAIDE coach Mark Williams has distanced himself from talk of a succession plan at the club.
There is speculation that Damien Hardwick who is in the running for the Richmond coaching job will return to Alberton and serve a two-year apprenticeship before being given the senior coaching role.
Williams was involved in the club's talks with Hardwick and denied presenting his former player with any type of proposal.
"I didn't present him anything, I asked him questions to make sure he's the right person for the job and he did exceptionally well so we are really happy if he comes to our club," Williams said.
"He'd be an assistant coach just like the other guys there."
Williams admitted there was merit in succession plans but said he wasn't aware that Port had one in place.
"That's up to the club to announce and proclaim, it's certainly not anything to do with me," he said.
"I haven't put any succession plan in place, that's something for you (the media) to think through."
